Experience the Folsom Prep Difference
Students at Folsom Preparatory School thrive because they are engaged in what they're learning, they are encouraged to be themselves, and they are nurtured into the leaders they are meant to be. We engage minds and embrace values. Come experience the Folsom Prep difference and see why we were voted the #1 private school for the sixth time by Style Magazine readers!
Small Class Sizes
Research has shown that students benefit from learning in a smaller classroom environment. With a 16:1 average student to teacher ratio, TK-5th grade students at Folsom Prep receive the one-on-one attention they deserve. Every child learns differently, and our experienced teachers can tailor their teaching to each student. Whether they need more challenging work or extra assistance, students consistently do better and thrive at Folsom Prep.
This results in greater engagement and achievement. Children aren’t bored, they actively participate and are encouraged by their teachers to voice their opinions, ideas, and questions, and they outperform their peers at other schools when it comes to math and reading. In fact, 80% of Folsom Prep students meet or exceed grade level math compared to only 65% at other schools!
Whole Child Focus
Most schools simply focus on academic learning and standardized testing. We believe that to nurture a well-rounded child, you need to also focus on social and emotional learning.
At Folsom Prep, students form long-lasting friendships, work together in teams, and build their communication, leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Hands-on, real-world learning enables children to be more creative and solutions-focused.
“When I was looking for schools for my son, I was looking really for an environment that could tailor to his strengths. Obviously I want my son to excel in school, but I also really wanted him to love learning. And that’s been the biggest positive change I’ve seen in him. He’s excited to come to school and I know they’re pushing him academically because I’m regularly informed of the growth he’s doing.”

Enriching Curriculum
Did you know, students at Folsom Prep receive twice as many instructional minutes each year than students at other schools? This allows students to learn more, dig deeper into subjects, and explore enrichment classes like STEAM, art, music/drama, Spanish, and technology every week (not just once a month or trimester). They are encouraged to use their investigatory skills, think critically, and be innovative.
A Welcoming Community
Every child at Folsom Prep is seen, heard, and valued. As part of our program, we teach students the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, an adaptation of Stephen Covey’s book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. These habits contribute to a positive and supportive environment where children encourage one another, listen, collaborate, and grow into compassionate, responsible individuals and leaders. And when your child is part of the Folsom Prep community, so too are you. Our Folsom Prep families are involved, volunteering and participating in the variety of events we host throughout the year like the Harvest Festival, Pages in Pajamas, Science Fair, and Breakfast with Santa.
Teachers Who Care
When you walk through the doors into Folsom Prep, you’ll notice something unlike many other schools. You and your child are greeted with a warm smile. Your child is known, cared for, and part of the Folsom Prep family. You can easily connect and talk with your child’s teacher. Our experienced and high-quality teachers are passionate about what they do and love guiding students along their educational journey. That’s why they’ve created an amazing inclusive learning environment for each child to thrive, grow, and succeed.
“I love teaching at Folsom Prep because of its supportive community, its inclusive environment, and the joy I get from seeing my students grow and succeed. Folsom Prep is truly my home away from home!”
